Emily Jones has been appointed by Governor Greg Gianforte to serve on the advisory council tasked with filling two new district court judge vacancies in the 13th Judicial District. It is the third time she’s been called upon to lend her insight to these critical selection processes.
The creation of these two additional judicial seats marks a significant expansion of the 13th Judicial District, which serves Yellowstone County and the broader Billings area. In a forward-thinking decision during the 2025 legislative session, Montana lawmakers recognized the growing caseloads and the need for more robust judicial resources in one of the state’s busiest districts.
